I am unsure of the walleye regulations. I would never keep walleye out of an Alberta river due to mercury contamination. Spin casting on rivers can be very productive, as productive as fly fishing. The thing about river fishing is that the fish do not significantly move around like they do in a lake .1 kg (20 lb, 4 oz), and while you will want a boat to find anything close to that size, shore fishing can be productive as well.
