My advice is to NOT do this without a solid engineering background. Having something like this give way at the wrong time could be catastrophic. If you look at the Rogue website, all of their barbell materials have a yield strength of at least 190.. I am thinking of buying the Ohio Power Stainless steel barbell as it won't rust easily. I've read and been told by some folks that Cerakote is more durable than a blue finish on guns. Cerakote seems to come on more and more new guns I see. Does anybody here have experience with blue and Cerakote finish on guns and have direct comparison knowledge which is the better, more durable.. I have read that stainless became the norm on match rifles because it's something that wears out and needs to be replaced. Stainless doesnt need to be coated and chrome moly does to prevent rust.
